Hit an estate sale today and they had a model 94 (circa 64) that was in 32 Win Spl. I'd say the finish was in 85% condition, and I didn't check the bore. From what I have read, this was the first year that "cheapened" their production on this gun and it doesn't seem that I missed out on a great collector's item. What do you all think? How much would you offer for this gun assuming it has a decent bore?

Has anyone shot 32 Win Spl? Any information is appreciated, I may go back tomorrow and make an offer.

Thanks,
Branden

Do you want a 32 Winchester special? If so maybe $350, maybe more if you really want it. I have a 1964 30/30 and it shoots great. Lost of fun with 8.x grains of unique under a 170 gr boolit. I added a Williams peep too. The receiver on these rifles didnt take the bluing well so discoloration there is part of the package, but the rest can still look good if it was taken care of. Hope this helps.

The first post 1964 Winchesters were made with stamped parts inside and at least when they were new they grated and scraped against each other and the rifle was anything but smooth operating. I know because I bought a brand new one in 1964 for $89.00. It shot ok but it was a poor excuse for a Winchester. Personally I would not give $200 today for one of the first ones with stamped parts. Later ones with investment cast parts are much better and they might be worth $350 or so.

I have both a pre 64 and the aforementioned 1964 vintage and I honestly can't tell a difference in their functioning. Maybe after decades of shooting it has smoothed up. I will bow to NickSS assessment of them new because I wasn't born yet :). Better check it out before purchase.

I have a pre64 94 in 32 Win Spl. I have never owned a lever gun before this one. I purchased
it two years ago & I love it! Be warned that 32 win spl once fired brass is not easy to come by
but you can covert 30-30 brass easily to 32 win spl.

I paid $270 and that included three boxes of factory ammo. Mine was probably in the low to mid
90's condition when I purchased it. The bore was immaculate and the only real problem was a
ding on the top of the receiver. The stock was beautifully aged and in very good condition. I
got a very good deal on it.

I got a 1951 model in .32 Win spcl. I paid 350 for it. It was in good condition with a mirror like bore. It was My first cast boolit gun and I love it. You might want to wait for a deal on a pre 64. There are still plenty out there.

Five years ago I bought a 1959 vintage 94 carbine in 32 WS. It was 99% (almost unfired) and had a steel Lyman receiver sight mounted, plus a good recoil pad. I paid $350.00 for it from Griffin and Howe.

It is the finest cast bullet levergun I have ever owned and I have owned quite a few. If we are talking cast bullets I would take a 32WS hands down over a 30-30 any day. If we are talking jacketed bullet then it would be a coin toss.

I don't know where you guys are finding these deals but I am jealous.

I paid $425 for my pre-64 30/30 about five years ago and it is an 80% gun or so. I thought i did well and I havent seen one cheaper.

Many folks don't look at Griffin and Howe thinking they have nothing but high end stuff. They do have lots of high end stuff that is fun to look at, but they also have some regular stuff from time to time. Their pricing whether high end or low end is very reasonable..sometimes even cheap. They also don't sell junk and give the same customer service to the fellow who buys a $200.00 rifle as they do to the fellow that buys a $50,000.00 rifle.

You are right. There is a listing there for a crossman 760 for $35! Right after a fancy rifle for five grand.

Which came out first, the 30-30 or the 32 special?
