123,
My wife has claimed more than one firearm I have brought home. At least we get to shoot together and she doesn't nag me about being in the shop till late if I tell her I was loading ammo for her.

Let her shoot it. That should cure her.

That's the first thing I thought, too!

The trigger on the one I shot, which was also a .357, would break any trigger scale and took a concerted "yank" to get it to fire. I guess since you have to "hang on to" the trigger, this is not a totally bad thing.

We had to move the target backer up to about 5 feet to not feel embarassed due to the horrendous trigger. I have shot many small guns, but this was by far the most difficult to hit with. If I were in your shoes, I'd already start researching how to improve the trigger pull! Maybe adjust it down to only 40lbs? The shiny front sight doesn't help if you're in the sun.

Oh, and 125gr .357s were not quite as bad as firing them in a Scandium J-frame, FWIW.
Wadcutters were not too bad.

Don't feel bad if you physically cannot make it go off. One guy with large hands simply couldn't work the trigger.

I once picked up a very nice plumb framed single six with a brass ejector rod housing and pearl grips. It was mine untill the wife saw it. I figured some day I would get it back.....WRONG!

Fact it if wifey isn't happy you won't be either so let her have it and get you a matching one. Just make sure she truly enjoys shooting and carrying it.

Shawn,
Let her shoot it if she enjoys it let her keep it. If she is like my wife she'll get bored with it and want something new.
One time I came home with a pristine Colt Police Positive in 22 WRF that a man had traded to me for his horseshoeing bill. She saw it and said "I like it, I believe I'll keep this one" She shot it for about 3 years and decided she wanted something different. She claimed my 4" S&W 686 and shot that for about 3 years. Lately she has been shooting a Taurus 605 and has given me back my 686.
So load it down and let her practice with it, load it up for CCW. At least if she will carry it she will be armed.
Good luck, jmsj

Sounds like you have too many guns already. Buy her some jewelry instead.:kidding:

123DB,

Be very happy that your wife likes to shoot ! Or acts like it. She IS worth it or you should not have married her (errr, maybe she married YOU).

Try 5.5 G of greendot with a 158g lead slug in a 357 case. Maybe be "enough" - Ft Lbs to mush the lead & soft enough for SHMBO. [smilie=p: You are lucky to have her.

be sure it is a hot load.

My wife would enjoy shooting the hot loads. Her favorite purse gun is 2.5" Model 629. So this plan could backfire:bigsmyl2::cbpour::redneck:

I'm putting my vote behind the 'give it to her and buy a 2nd one' concept. :)

Why not get her one of those pretty http://www.amderringer.com/pix/engrave1.jpg “Lady Derringer” versions with the fancy grips http://www.amderringer.com/pix/cameogrips.jpg from American Derringer? Maybe she will leave yours alone.

it doesn't have to be a target gun to give the bad guy chest pains or a serious belly ache. I'm sure with dry fire it will ease up she is happy she gets a good carry gun and you get to buy another one ahhh the good life:guntootsmiley:

I "had" a near new Colt Detective 38 spl.....Danielle shot 1 cylinder through it and declared it was hers.....

The good news is it looks like your wife has a new carry gun.

Wonder how it would do with a couple round balls in each pcs of brass.
