I ordered a Leatherwood Malcolm 6X scope from SWFA and it arrived today. Mounted it up in the Sharps rifle.

Relatively easy to install. Mounts seem quite rigid. Testing tomorrow!

Well, I got to the range this AM......Although the optics are clear, the adjustments are near impossible. Especially elevation. Very difficult to move the scope up .0001"......I ordered the Fine Elevation Adjuster and sent an email to Leatherwood telling them that this scope should include this piece. It is nearly unusable without it.

I'm going to take it all apart and stone everything so it moves smoothly.

On the plus side, it held zero very well and has great eye relief. The optics are excellent.

More reports later......

On my Sharps I had to add a second recoil absorber or clamping thingy so there was one on both sides of the rear mount. My scope actually moved in both directions and now it stays put. The other issue I had was being able to move the rear windage adjustment screws enough to work well at 200yds and further. I found screws with longer threaded parts and that helped.

very cool...i have this very scope and am having it mounted on a browning hi wall custom 38-55. the "recoil clamp" on the rear looks backwards to me...seems like the lug should face the breech so the entire ring has contact with the mount ring....just me thinking out loud.

please do share your success with this setup and your accuracy as well as the yardage shot at. maybe your load as well. looks like your barrel is 30 inches? my ped 74 sharps wears a 34 inch barrel and the scope is too short for it...would have to get the longer muzzle piece that screws into the end of the scope for this rifle.

very cool on looks tho. i cant wait for mine to be finished so i can add to this post with my own process with the leather wood setup.
