Aside from the flat rate Post Office charges. :bigsmyl2:
I came up with a cheap and easy way to ship lead ingots and wheelweights in the Medium Flat Rate boxes that the Post Office supplies for free. It takes one Medium FR box, available on line from the Post Office, and two other sized boxes that you can easily find on line; one of the the 7" x 7" x 6"size, and two of the 8 ½ x 5 1/4" x 1 ½" size, as shown in the first picture.
It happens that the 7" box fits snugly between the two smaller boxes, all three nesting in the $10.50 Flat Rate box. To close the large box, you have to fold the 7" box down an extra 3/4". The second picture should make this clear.
I can fit seventy pounds of ingots into the entire box, but since I can’t lift that much I just put 36 lbs into the center box and hot glue the whole thing shut. Tape will work but it’s not nearly as sturdy; I keep a pot full of hot glue handy to save tape. Just thought some of you might find this useful.
