does this need oxygen to work efficiently ? it is a replacement for acytelene and acy. would not work on its own it has black carbon ash flying all around due to not enough oxygen , also mapp is much more expensive than propane , my answer is i dont know but these questions may lead you to an answer , as i have never used mapp gas , hope this helps..bob

I do not know if it will give you any advantage you should get plenty of heat from propane. I have had a propane torch that was not set up for MAP gas clog when I used it? I have no idea if the stove would do that.

at 3 times the price WHY mapp needs input of fresh air to burn right . as said it will clog a closed burner

I've used it in my Coleman too, but I could not see any difference. Haven't bought any for some years now. I weld with acetylene, cook with propane, and melt lead with coal, (well, coal-generated electricity anyway).

I have never seen a logical reason to use MAPP in any situation, at 3X price and only 150 degrees hotter(3600 vs. 3450) it is a no win situation to say the least.
Add oxygen to MAPP or propane and they still both do the same jobs equally well. JMO.
