need load for 314299/.308/Savage 10

Got a great fitting boolit for my .308 Savage 10. The 314299 cast out at exactly .314 with my 5 to 1 ww/lino mix. Sized it to .3115, and the nose portion from the no. 1 cavity is .3015. Juuuust right for a good snug fit. I need a 300 yd. load. I have plenty of pistol/shotgun powders for 100 yd loads, but this needs to be a leetle hotter for my new 300 yd. range. Would 2100 fps be enough?? 2200?? I have 4064, AA4350, and IMR4831, but will get whatever you think is best. BTW, the gas check is going to extend about 1/16" back into the powder cavity. I'm going to check the bore after every shot. Whaddyathink? Mack

To make sure the bore is clear. After 20 or so rounds I'll probably feel good about shooting, and not checking. I've got a perfect reputation I'm trying to keep. No ringed chambers, or bores in 53 years. No blown guns, cases, or even primers. Only thing that got blown away was my reputation, and my ability to keep a steady job. :wink:

I Read the link you gave me and realised you have a story everyone needs to hear. I typed in my reply to your question BEFORE I read the link, and hope you don't take my reply as a better-than-thou reloader. I sure didn't mean it that way. What happened to you could happen to anyone in a moment of distraction. It's a wonder I'm still here after shooting 3 1/2 drams FFG charges in an old well worn original english 12 ga. muzzleloader circa 1860 or so, and a low grade gun at that. Did this when I was young and dumb. Never again!!!!!!!I thank THE LORD you were not hurt any worse.
