One word: Ranchdog. There's a link at the top right of this page.

PS: well, two words: Ranch Dog.

I've had very good results with the Lee C309-150-F.

+1 for Ranch Dog TL grooves or the NOE clone with standard lube grooves .
Also consider the Saeco 315 (about 160 grains), or the Lyman 31141 (about 175 grains).

I cast soft, heat treat HARD, gas check, lube and shoot

25-26 grains of RL-7 will provide about 1900-2000 fps depending on many factors.
My family has Microgroove and pre-micro groove Marlins and all bring in their quarries regularly(deer, turkey.... and pigs with extreme prejudice), usually one shot kills.

i am using it's big brother c309-170f but would sure like to try a ranch dog some day but it is hard to argue with a 20 dollar mold that drops boolits at .310 and saves me the time of sizing.

311291 works good for me sized at least at .310.

I've shot well over 1,000 bullets I cast from a Ranch Dog 311-165GC mold !
They did well in Micro Marlin's and Ballard Marlin's !

Shot them for two years at Metalic Silhouette and did okay as well as on paper !

Good game bullet also !

My second choice would have to be the Lyman 311041 . That "was" my first choice until I started shooting the RD 311-165GC !

I use the Lyman 311041 in my Winchesters and Marlins both. My Marlins are all Microgroove, too. I bought most of these guns before gunmag writers started whining about how bad cast boolits shoot in microgroove Marlins. I merely slugged the bores, cast and sized accordingly, and happily went out hunting and shooting. Nowadays, I'm looking in the cabinet and reading this website. While I'll be keeping my Lyman mold, I'm seriously thinking Ranchdog will be my next one for my 30-30's.
