I just got in some grips from Craig Spegel for a FN Alloy Hi Power I was fortunate enough to catch at aimsurplus a few weeks back.

I found the screw hole was out of alignment though, and when the screw hole was aligned, the grip seemed shifted pretty far forward and the front edge had to be out of the groove to align.

Stock grips for comparison:

Should I just give Craig a call and see what he says? I guess I'm just looking for "standard operating procedures" for an issue like this.

Thanks

Call them, and I bet they'll replace them without question.

They are made like that intentionally. It is all there in your instructions that came with the grips. You must oblong the hole to get just the right fit. Hi Powers have a hinky arangement with that one screw and then a ridge on the back of each panel.

Many makers will no longer make HP grips because of so much variablity, causeds them
continuous headaches.

Have 4 sets of grips for my HP. Factory walnut, factory imitation pearl, micarta (that I made) and it's wearing Lasergrips as of now. Never had adjustment issues with any of them them. Just bolt on or off.

Piedmont, the fitting instructions talk about modifying by a few thousands of an inch. So this is beyond the scope of the fitting instructions.

Winelover, what era is your HP? Just curious. Mine's an FN alloy, so I don't know if that's part of the problem.

Interesting observe Bill. I told Craig I'd pay for any additional charges required though, so hopefully that will assuage any headaches. I also send in my stock plastic grips when I returned Craig's grips, so hopefully that will assist Craig in getting the grips dialed in.

Mine is a FN steel frame, purchased new around 1975 IIRC.
