Been trying to score on a .25-35 Win Contender rifle barrel from Ed's... No response yet from the emails starting on Saturday. Left two messages. Actually got through today, it sounded like a damn speakerphone in a room with a couple people speaking in the background. Hung up after two minutes without an answer. Called back a few minutes later and got voice mail...

I tried to contact them a while ago, email, phone calls and voice mails. I never got a response.

I bought a Custom Shop 25-35 Win hi-gloss blue 24" Contender barrel from Ed a couple years ago. Really nice outfit.
Ed was great to deal with.
He is a sponsor over on Greybeard's forum. Might check there.

I have not dealt with him, but it is my understanding that selling T/C barrels is not his primary occupation.
Those that have dealt with him all seem to be pleased. The most frequent complaint I read of though is trying to get a hold of him. If he has what you're looking for, I suggest that you keep trying.

From the forum:
You asked so here is the URL for our sponsor:
http://www.edstc.com/

The website is not always completely current, so the best method is to contact Ed and he can tell you what is in stock.

Curtis adds:

Ed's Contenders:
Between 8:00AM and 5:00PM CENTRAL M-S
(405)-879-0879

Another poster commented that Ed is in the shop on Mondays and Fridays.

Well, I joined yet another forum. Supposedly, Ed is a sponsor of this particular one.

It seems odd... even if this isn't his first priority, how much stock is he sitting on? Appears a bit la-dee-dah, I've got gobs of TC stuff, $250 or so pop, and I can't return your email or calls...

If this TC stuff is not worth his time, I'd get my neighbor across the street to drive down to OK with his rig, pick up all this worthless stuff, and Ed can concentrate on whatever his priorities are. Sounds good to me.

Just talked to Ed, he was out for a few days. Does not sound good for the .25-35, rain on my parade... He will be going out to the shop tonight....

Looks like a true one man operation...

With T/C, changing ownership and moving, he is probably limited to what items he has in stock.
You can't go my his web site as it is way out of date,
His day job is being a CPA, and as others have stated, to contact him, CALL between the hours he has posted.

The T/C Custom shop is shutdown, so you may want to frequent Greybeard or Speciality Pistols. Another choice is a custom shop like MGM. A little more money than T/C but at least the product is available, even if you have to wait for it.
The brass for 25-35 I believe is seasonal also so you may have to wait for it, or reform 30-30.

Supposedly, Friday is a good day. If he has a 25-20, chances are it can be re-chambered to the 256 Mag, if not 25-35. Yes, the available models are thinning out....

Ed found a heavy taper, 24" 256 Win Mag Contender barrel. Thanks to the power of plastic, it's on the way. Ed has much reduced stock.

I've always fancied a 25/35 as it would be a brilliant calibre for most medium game in Australia. I have never seen a rifle in this calibre in Australia though.

I like my 25-35. Seems everything I put in the chamber shoots darn good. Velocity isn't the highest, but when I bought it I was looking to minimize the recoil so it works well.

The 256 Win mag should also be a great little cartridge. If it isn't, it can become something else. I think Bullberry has an improved 25-35 in their list of cartridges.

I'm glad you got to Ed. I have had numerous dealings with him at the Tulsa gunshow. However that has been some time ago. I can tell you that I bought a .36 Navy from him there that he had purchased from a guy that needed money and I got the impression from Ed's wife that Ed often did that sort of thing to help people out. He didn't make money on my transaction I am quite sure. Ed is a very nice person.

I should buy a 25/35 Bbl or rifle, I have 5000 25Cal gaschecks and two moulds (Only one is a gas check design!!!!) and my only 25cal is a 1908 built 25/20 1892 Win which has crappy sights and I don't use it much.

I've bought guns on flimsier excuses!

Maybe seeing it is too small for Cowboy Shooting, I could fit one of those awesome Skinner Sights to it! Bit of a shame to drill it, but it has been rebarrelled by a previous owner, so it has no collector value.

Just to give credit where credit is due - the 256 Win Mag barrel arrived, NIB, and the finish is nice, deep blue.

And no shooting report yet?? I wonder if it will handle the heavier boolits. I got an old Lyman/Ideal mold off a member here that drops about a 115gr bolit and it works very well.

I think the new Lyman molds are like 60 or 80 grs for the 25-20 leverguns.

Should be a shooter.
