This young groundhog had the audacity to dig himself a home underneath my Black Cherry lumber I have air drying up behind the house. He came out for a look around and came up against a 260 gr HP swaged from 40 S&W brass. 44 Mag load with 17.0 gr 2400 at a chronographed 1225 fps. Thats from a 7 1/2 inch Super Blackhawk. Pics are kinda graphic.

Poor little feller.............
Hope you didn't shoot through and nick any of that cherry!
Please tell us that the wood is OK..............
I took out a raccoon with a .40 S&W swaged bullet (thanks Brian!) a week or so ago, but the damn thing was too gory to take a picture of. Old sow coon that was harassing my chickens.
Country living, gotta love it!

It took a lot of guts to do that, all he had.

After a while shooting paper and water jugs isn't as fun. Excellent job on the live testing!!!

The last animal I shot was a extremely sick raccoon wallowing in a mudhole. Killing because I could stopped being "fun" for me a long time ago.

I was told that 44magnum was the minimum caliber you should use for groundhog .
Looks like it works fine.
