Cracked slide...ParaOrdnance .40

Not sure if this is the right place to post this...

My Para P14-40 (officer's size) has a cracked slide. Para won't warranty it because it was manufactured prior to 2001...and I'm not the original owner. I'm waiting for ParaOrdnance to call me back regarding wether or not they have a replacement available. If so, I have to send my pistol in for them to replace. They likely will not sell outright.(?) $270.....

Anyone know of an aftermarket slide available?

I saw some on gunbroker. You have to break down the search. First go to gun parts, the to hand guns, then put in slide for the search word. I saw several Para slides there recently.
I was looking for a 1911 slide and found one way cheaper than a new replacment, works good too.

I thought any 1911 slide (for 40 cal) would work for what you want to do.. it would have to be fitted and all that, but if it's a 1911, they are all the same? (Para I believe are series 80 guns)..

That's certainly the way I would go. 1911 projects are always a learning experience but the guys at 1911forum are always happy to help. You might also ask for a slide over there. Plenty of custom builders there to help out. Good luck on getting back into action.

sargenv: is your slide an officer's model? I may be interested. I'll have to do some research.

Bullshop: I noticed there was a full top end kit sold in March on GunBrokers. Would have been perfect.

Got ahold of a freindly service rep at ParaOrdnance. Looks like they'll do something for me...at least send me a new slide at a discounted price...??? Mailed the cracked slide to them yesterday.

I'll update when possible.

Um.. no.. I have two full sized wide body Para's.. a P16 and a P18.. the first is single action, the second is their LDA frame.. Officer's models aren't that great for USPSA Limited.. and a lot of ppl like the 6" framed guns..

So... Para agreed to SELL me a new slide for $219, delivered.

Not exactly what I was hoping for, but at least the issue is resolved.
