I was thinking about getting this mold for my first hollow point mold for my redhawk 44 mag. I was looking to see what any of that have gotten this think about it. Also, any load data you are using would be great, as I plan to use this boolit to go javelina hunting in the spring.

I sent mine off to Eric and had the gas check removed. It's averaging a weight of 304 grains with 50/50 WW/roofing lead.

I seat to the deepest crimp groove to work in the rotary magazine used in my Ruger 96-44. 12 grains of 2400 seated to 1.613 OAL is giving me right at 900 fps out of a ruger Readhawk.

Assuming you mean the Lyman 429640?

I left mine GC'd so I can cast soft (WW/lead 50/50) and they weigh 270 gr fully dressed. I drive them to 1350 fps out of my 6 1/2" Ruger FTBH and 1500 fps out of my Contender, expansion and pentration are awesome. Not sure how it would perform at a .444 marlin higher velocity as the HP is pretty large.

Lizard333,

I shoot this out of my Redhawk all day long. I get 275 grain HP's and 285 grain Solids using a 92/6/2 Pb/Sn/Sb mix. I may have the GC removed on one of the cavities because I'm not pushing it hard so far but I love this mold so much I do not want to screw it up! It is sweet to cast with and my biggest problem is making myself stop when everything comes out shiny and well filled out every time.

I was thinking the Mihec mold.

Yep, I run this mold for my S&W Model 29-2. Just shot a bunch yesterday working up a hunting load.

Mine drop out at .434 and I resize them to .430

I seat mine in the second crimp groove to give an OAL of 1.700

Man I really want this mold. I have the Lyman 429640, but this one sure looks fine. The plain base would be a nice option though.

Bomberman, what kind of accuracy are you getting?

L1a1rocker, How is your accuracy compared to before with the GC?

Thanks guys

Removing the GC really only gives you a heavier boolit and does not impact accuracy. I shoot mine without a GC and they are nail drivers. If I want to someday run them through a rifle, add the GC and off we go. Mine drop from the mold at 295 grains for the HP and 305 for the solid using straight WW and a touch of tin solder.

assuming you are talking about the MP mold
I use the gc and push it with W-296
I will be able to use a softer alloy at higher velocity
like Larry mentioned
its a good mold for sure and a great mold to have for the 44 mag

I didn't even realize you could shoot them unchecked like that. I appreciate the feedback, definitely adds to the versatility. I think I'll order one tonight! Thanks!

I like to think of them as cast Boattail boolits...yep, they work just fine without the GC.
