picked up a remington rolling block at flea market for song and dance,its in 44 russian and 44 spl with 20inch barrel and the russian wighting on it,so what do i have and can shoot today ammo in it thanks

I shoot .44 Russian black powder cartridges in an old Russian revolver and 42 Russian Berdan in a 1885 bolt action rifle. I also shoot .43 Egyptian cartridges in an old rolling block. Maybe I can help.

best advice you can get on a firearm that you are not sure about is have a good smith that knows what he is doing check it before you fire it
also have him check the chamber it may not be for the round that is marked on the barrel a lot of old guns have had new barrels or had their chambers reamed to something different than what is marked on them
this can be determined by doing a simple chamber cast and measuring it
never assume something is the safest policy to adhere to
