Putting a 6.5 Jap rifle together.... slugged barrel, its .266 at chamber end, .264 at muzzle.

I figure I need a .267 or .268 single or double cavity mold for the rifle.. Probably 130gr to 150 max.

Was hoping to find a Lee, but no luck so far. I have to keep costs down on this project so I am trying to stay away from the lymans molds.

Any suggestions?

Lee, for whatever reason has chosen to ignore 6.5 mm boolit casters.

They may not fit your budget, but look into Lyman's 266469 or 266673, especially if you can find early Ideal versions, as they are more apt to drop on the fat side.

Custom moulds are available, but they will cost even more.

That is what I was afraid of... I suppose I could buy some cast boolits to keep it fed until I can figure things out.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I can find a decent deal on a Lyman mold somewhere.

Surprisingly, this special order mold is actually in stock at Midsouth right now for less than $20 - http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=000066.5SWED

I would get one while the getting is good. Mine drops around .274, so you would need to do a fair amount of sizing, but the lube grooves are deep enough that they should tolerate that. You would probably need to size it down in two steps to take that much off.

I cut down the top of my mold so that it drops a 150-grain boolit instead of the original 170 grain boolit. The original seemed like a little too much to me.

you can always keep an eye open in the swapping and selling forum also. :bigsmyl2: :redneck::redneck: . now you'll have to buy a sizing die from Buckshot [smilie=l:[smilie=l:
