I just purchased a S&W pre-lock mod. 625 mountain gun in .45 colt.
What is the difference between the 625 and the 25?
I already cast a 310 gc lee bullet, and have on the way a 255 keith style lee mold.

I also think the Mountain Gun has a tapered barrel. But all of them are N-Frame 45 Colts.

Yes, Mountain Gun means the light pattern tapered barrel version of 629/625, a bit lighter to carry in the
mountains.

Seems to be lighter on flat ground too.

Even skydiving!

Three 44s

(But I don't have first hand experience on that one ............. I don't jump out of good airplanes nor do I make a habit of boarding poor ones!)

I have one of the 625 MG's. I have never had any luck getting 300+ gr. boolits to shoot well at lower speeds. If run to 1,100+, I have gotten mine down to around 2" at 50 yds. If more traditional style loads are your goal, your 255 gr. mould might be the best choice.

Not quit right - the 25's, 625's and 625 MG also come in 45 ACP.

I have an excellent shooting 625 in 45 ACP. I see the 625 MG every once in a while at gun shows - one of these days - one is going to follow me home (in 45 ACP of course).

They also made it in 44, but they are all N frames.

Correct. ...and I stand corrected.
