Went to the range late in the day expecting the wind to be howling, was at the house, but fairly calm at the range. At least until I set the target up, then 5-10mph @3 O'clock

Set up the chrony. Earlier loads with 2015BR were 1772fps. Loaded some Varget for today, also using the BRP 378-310 boolit. 31.5 gr was 1670fps, 32.6gr was 1811 fps and 33.5gr was 1880fps. Sweet spot was the 32.6gr, as shown by the target. First shot was the upper left one then the next four close together. Remember, there was a bit of wind.

Remember, these loads are for a Bolt gun, and appear safe in MY gun. Might try some RE-15 also. Getting there.

Nice to see a plan come together!

Question... is your P14 sporterized or still military looking? I really like the unique chambering!

Looks like you and the Varget , 32.6gr load could become real good friends.

Uncle Grinch, it is very much sporterized so to speak. I have an earlier post, about a week ago, that has a picture of it, a bull barrel and thumbhole stock.

Have you tried 30 grains of 3031 and the bullet seated on top of the powder?
or in the bolt gun a bit more powder until the bullet seated on top of the powder causes
the bullet to barely engage the rifling? Work this out and I think you will be pleased
I have been getting clover leafs from 3031.

That is one powder I don't have on hand anymore. I kind of figured that it might be too fast for so heavy a boolit.

Been thinking of rechambering it to 38-72. One of my favorite cartridges, but probably should leave it in 38-55. Been going up in charge a bit more. Things look good so far. Might be all I want out of it. If I want more, just go to my H&H
