I have an opportunity to buy some round ingots that are stamped "Dura-Tex Nickle Alloy" I think these were intended for casting bearings. The guy who has them said he got them from a gentleman who did a lot of bullet casting. Anyone familiar with this material? Useful in hardening bullets? Idea as to what would be a fair price? I can't seem to find much information about these.

Nickel content will be less than one percent, so ignore. Enough for an impurity which will harden quenched boolits quite well, provided the antimony is sufficient. ... felix

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you meant. Are these worthwhile picking up or should I pass?

Thanks Felix. Sometimes I'm a little thick.

I worked in a print shop where we blended our own type metal. Nickel was added to help reduce oxidation if I remember correctly. I think we added 5 % to get a really shiny tough alloy.
Buy it !!!! It will cast great.

According to the last post, Mike, add one pound per 20 pound pot. Go from there with adjustments according to casting and shooting. ... felix
