I bought out a caster that quit due to poor health. And one of the things in the deal is about 3/4 pail of an alloy hand labeled "BANK TYPE" it is very hard and shapped in small cubes with a letter on each cube. The cubes are approximatly
1/8" each. Is this a version of monotype?

I would assume so. I am trying to verify that right now. At the least it is monotype. I have a bunch of it and I am trying to decipher how to distinguish monotype from foundry type.

btroj,
Those photos of foundry type you have in the other thread are exactly what we have, and it's the stuff that I got verified as foundry type. I'm sure the alloy contents could be different from one manufacturer to the next, but the percentages all are pretty close to the numbers that bumpo and others have posted lately.
