Redneck brass tumbler

Well I am attempting to make my own tumbler. I was thinking of using the engine from a washing machine but the drum it's connected too is way to big. What could I use for a drum in my tumbler. I thought about #10 can but that's too small. Have any of y'all made your own tumbler and what did you use?

I made a tumbler from an old treadmill someone gave me. Just cut off the frame and move the back roller close to the front roller. I put a couple of 3 lb coffee cans on there and it was ready to go.

They are bigger than they look. Last week I tumbled a full box of 25 CBC - Magtech Brass 12 Gauge Shot Gun Shells. :shock: I picked them up a tag sale over a year ago and forgot about them until I fished them out of the back of the cabinet. They were all tarnished so into the Ronco they went. Now they look great!

A IBM ( Other brands probely would work ) copy machine , the big ones on wheels
The motor out of one works great for a tumbler motor

As a freind has made several by adding a 2 1/2 gallon bucket to one
Just need to add a baffle in the bucket

As the motor runs at 16 - 20 RPM ( guess ) and the ones he snags
Have a flang to screw the bucket to

He just has to install a cord and bolt it to the bench

He gets his , for free from the repairman that serveces the copyers where he works

Four wheels from a pair of roller skates. A rotiseree motor from a bar-b-que. A #10 can with 2 baffles riveted inside. Connect the motor to back of can with 1/4" square rod and metal hanger from motor to base. Mount wheels upside down on piece of 2 x 4. I used a rig like this for a bunch of my "broke" years.Robert
