View Full Version : Mould handles?

The front ends of my mould handles form a slght V when closed on my mould. I am preparing to alter them slightly so the pressure point of the handle squeezes the center of the mould. As it is, the handle pressure point favours the forward cavity. It is a NOE 3 cavity mould in large KAL handles.

I'm undecided as to cutting the handle tips to a shorter length to match the center of the mould region or alter the handle faces to match the mould and place the mould a little farther out to use the tips on the center region.

Does tucking the mould up close to the handle hinge act like a heat sink for the rear cavity? These handles are STURDY and very well made with lots of steel. My original plan was to slide the handle tips to cover the middle inch of the mold and not have the handles keep the rear cavity a little cooler than necessary.

I'm appreciating the benefit of aluminum moulds. These blocks would be heavy in iron or brass. The cavities are small so weight shouldn't be an issue.
