This is the working prototype. Just completed tonight.

All the commercially available buttstock monopods on the market that I've seen are designed to be attached to a quick-disconnect sling stud. There are none that attach to a sling bow like this one.

I believe as it is it will fit other Mausers like the Persian 98/29 8x57, 1908 Brazilian 7x57, 1909 Argentine 7.65x53, 1891 Argentine 7.65x53, possibly the Type 38 Arisaka and maybe the 1903 Springfield and M1917. It comes off and goes on in about 30 seconds.

There's going to be a knurled brass lock ring that serves as the clamping nut but the 1.5" round brass bar stock is on the way. So it will be adjustable for height.

The black piece is 1.5" delrin (acetal). The green is molybdenum impregnated nylon bearing called "nycast". I could've used brass to make this thrust washer but I have a 36" bar of this green nylon so I used it.

The wood is American ash with a 3/4" diameter x 1.25" long brass insert that's epoxied in place. Thread is 1/2-20.

All the pain-in-neck machining is on the piece of delrin. I guessed a 10 degree slope and cut it with a 1 3/8" Forstner bit. The bottom radius of the Swedish Mauser from the toe to the bottom of the stock wrist is a near perfect match for this dimension.

That's not a gap it's just where the sling swivel screws are set into the wood a little bit.

I'm having a mental block the hook goes onto the sling swivel the the wood handle tightens it up but how to you adjust the elevation of your barrel with this?

Ah, not designed to work with bipod - gotcha

Au contrare.... There's no reason it won't function perfectly with a bipod. In fact it was this Swede that showed me the inherent problem of not having a solid buttstock rest. I got some vertical stringing with this rifle and pondered a while as to why until the [dim] lightbulb went off. Dohhh! It was the bipod, stupid:) (smacking hand on forehead).

This Harris bipod attaches without any modification to the rifle.. sorta. Since this particular m/96 is a FrankenSwede built from parts it didn't matter what I did. But it has served as a testbed so I silver soldered a QD sling stud into the lower band keeper so the bipod attaches quite solid. With the cleaning rod going through the hole in the lower band keeper it guarantees a strong solid attachment.

I've retired this particular m/96 and replaced it with another m/96 that shoots sub-MOA and has a long eye relief scope on it. I need to transfer the modified band keeper over to the new range rifle so I can fully test out the monopod. But the monopod can be used just as well with a standard rifle rest. I'm still in the development stage since I've not shot the rifle with the monopod yet. It keeps RAINING and wind blowing keeping me from the range but I have rifles and ammo sitting in a pile ready to load in the car for a long range day.

The 1.5" diameter brass bar stock came today so I made the knurled lock ring. The knurled brass locking ring tightens up the black delrin piece to the stock leaving the wooden handle free to adjust. If I run into a height problem I can trim some meat off the bottom of the black delrin and off the bottom of the wood handle. I may end up removing the green nylon thrust bearing.

I also installed the Harris bipod to the m/96 that I'll be using all the time. I'll do some fresh photos when I get to the range.

[smilie=s: Congrats Dutch. Looks like a store-bought item. I hope it works well on the range. Can't see why it would give you any problems... Bigmac:CastBoolitsisbest:
