Honest injun, I used the Search feature. I haven't found much said about it. Maybe it's a bad idea. 185 or 200 or 230 grains moving really fast sounds like a hoot to me. And all the 45-70 loading I'd be doing probably wouldn't put a large dent in me supply of pistol boolits... unless it turned out really well. Does anybody here do it?

Yeah, just loaded up some 325 gr wfn. Its from a 454 mold sized to .452-.4525 wrapped with notebook paper. They finished smaller than I wanted .459. Wanted them a little larger so they would get sized a little to compress the paper a little. Did about 30 loaded 20 with 3031.

I patched up some 270gr a Colt shooter gave me. Not much good for anything but plinking. Did work good on a stray cat that wandered into my yard. 16# gave me .462 after drying. Run them through a .459 die and ended up with .460. That is as big as the throat in my Marlin will handle.

My cousin uses the Lee 255 gr. FP paper patched then sized to .460 in his Marlin. He does very well with it out to 100 yards. He said he uses IMR 4198 but I do not know what charge. He said he was getting 1900 FPS over his Chorny.
