Question on lead

i picked up a box of i think 45 cal lead today and it is all most black and it is vary hard.any idea what it could be made out of?

They are pretty pricey, although the black coating is probably just a gimmick.

Could they be molly coated? File a clean flat on the nose and check there for hardness.

I just did that and it will not leave a mark with my nail
