What is going rate on this site for New in the Box Lead Free Solder with tin property of +99% tin, these are all new 25 # boxes of SN100C with .6% CU and .05% Ni. These are new in the box ingots direct from manufacturer. Also what is the going rate of new 63/37 Solder. I know what roto metals charges but what would someone pay here.

chambers, don't know the answer to your question but I am curious to know also, please post it here when/if you find out.

The nickel isn't enough to matter one way or the other but I am curious about the copper @ 0.6% and whether that would be a benefit, detriment or indifferent. Interesting. :coffeecom

I don't know about the NIB price but a member here recently sold reclaimed solder (99.3% tin and
.7% copper) for $9/lb. delivered. I bought 10 lb. and was happy to get it.

As far as NIB pricing you might try an internet search (Google, Bing, Yahoo) and see what you find.

I'm also curious about adding small amounts of copper and nickel to the alloy. BABore has posted about adding small amounts of babbit to his 50/50 and 60/40 WW/Pb in order to get some copper and nickel into his mix to toughen up the alloy a bit. I would really like to learn more about this.

Tony

I paid $5.00 per pound for new 50/50 marked solder bars on e-bay. Nice to know exactly what it is! So, 99% pure Tin should be about $9.00 - $10.00 per pound as TJ says, either here or there. Maybe a bit more?

I don't need any now, but good luck if you sell it. Great stuff to have around the shop.

Hhmmm . . . Not quite. tonyjones was speaking of reclaimed solder, not pure tin.

The cheapest I know of right now is Roto Metals @ $20.00 per pound for 99.9% pure. MidwayUSA is currently $25.00 per pound with a 2 pound minimum plus shipping.

That small an amount of copper will have no neg effect on casting alloy. Remember your gonna cut it at least 10-1 with lead.
