The Lee .30cal mold works great in the .30 cals.
For paper patching, I size it to .308, then wrap, then size to .309.
A great firing casting.
I also use water dropped wheel weight with it.

Really? A 17 inch pistol? There must be some really different Federal laws in Illinois.

But to answer your question, the RCBS 180 SPGC is across the board the most accurate in my 308's. For your hunting bullet the RCBS FPGC is very close in accuracy and has a decent flat point.

a long pistol barrel is ok you cant have a shorter then 16"rifle barrel
thats a no no a 16" + barrel can be used on a rifle or a pistol
but no i cant use this in illinois to deer hunt we cant use a bottleneck
longer then 1.4" has to be a straight-walled centerfire 30cal or larger

Lyman 311041 works great for paper and is a classic hunting boolit for the 30 cal. It is a flat nose designed for the 30-30.
I use it in all my 30 cal guns to 200 yards and beyond.

Have you checked the "minimum" overall length of a rifle?

Ok i just gave the a,t,f a call minimum oal is 26" on a rifle that has a 16"
barrel i have a 17" o.a.l is 31" on my encore

if its a shotgun o.a.l is still 26" but you need a 18" barrel

There is no maximum length on a pistol barrel nor a minimum oal. The longer barrels are perfectly legal (Federal statutes) on Contenders and Encores as long as they don't have the rifle but stock on the frame. With a rifle stock a barrel under 12" long would have to be used to get under the 26" aol minimum but then it's under the 16" minim barrel length for a rifle anyway. Even with a Choate folder the Contender is still over 26" oal with the 21" carbine barrel. I've used the Contender as a "pistol" with bipods using my 21" .22 hornet and .223 barrels. With the 6X pistol scope they are pretty effective on squirrels to some distance.

Back to the OP's question; I also suggest the 311041 as it is both and accurate bullet and a very effective bullet for hunting.

That's why I want to SBR my t/c contender so I can use whatever combination I want.
I got a 311407 group buy mold as the reviews are good but I haven't tried it yet.
my standard goto is 311299 for most of my 30 cal's.
