Has anyone built or designed a range cart for moving the toys to the firing line?
As I get older I find that it is chore to get my equipment to the firing line, and no, I am not going to take less stuff. Kinda O.C. about that http://castboolits.gunloads.com/images/smilies/loveboolits.gif

Depends how far the firing line ie to the parking lot and how much gear you want to tote along. How ,many rifles etc are you wanting to move. A sack barrow type design is a place to start from. I made this little cart but is is for a single rifle and gear but also doubles as a shooting platform on ocasions when I dont want to take the bench to the range.

This is what I use. I've seen them at Kmart also. Works great with a couple bungie cords.

I bought a used baby jogger off of Craig's List. Then I went to an ATV/motorcycle shop and bought the gun racks. so probably about $130 total. althoough, I was too nice of a guy and too honest. I had made arrangements already with one family to meet them at their house, and they wanted $60 for their jogger.in the meantime, I had a few other people call me back and were like, "okay, I'll sell mine to you for forty dollars then." I think one guy had gone down to twenty or thirty dollars, but I told them I had already made arrangements with that other family. turns out they lived in the ritzier/wealthier part of St. Louis near Washington University.

anywhoooo....turns out that the jogger was axctually made here in the states so that is a bonus. the front wheel has a quick release mechanism so it comes off easily. then it is just a matter of pulling a couple of pins and it folds kinda flat. I just wish the the other two main wheels had the same quick disconnect feature. it is not so much about compactness when going to a 3 gun match but rather being able to store it neatly at the house since I don't have a garage.

now that I have a welder...pfftt....I could have easily made the ATV gun racks myself. and then dipped them in that plastic dip tool handle coating stuff.

if you are looking for something that has a seat, you should check out what the cowboy action shooters are making/using.

I was taking another look at those pics posted up above.

HOLY COW MAN!

that was kinda expensive to turn that 6 cell MagLite flashlight into a suppressor, wasn't it?

:-P

just kidding!

you guys down in New Zealand get to legally own all the cool toys.

I think down there you guys call them "mufflers" instead, and you can pick them up at any hardware store.

The supressor is becoming more commonplace here as the benefits are well known, and the use of them is encouraged.

There is quite an industry here manufacturing suppressors. ( no we dont call them mufflers) They make a heck of a difference in multiple shot situations as the game dosent spook and hearing protection is unessary.

The sport shops have the end of barrel 22LR models for about NZ$45 (US$35) but the centrefire overbarrel models are usually custom fit, but NZ$250-350 (US$200-280) usually gets one done. The one pictured on my 20VarTarg is 6 1/2 in over barrel with 6 in past the muzzle.

Check some of the cowboy action web sites for various cart designs. They have lots of different variations and some really good designs for multiple weapons, and lots of gear. I'm not into CAS anymore, but if I find some of the site links, I will post them.

I built one of my own design (similar to some of the better outfits) out of some scrap mahogany lumber I had, still got it, but haven't really used it for quite a few years. It's up in my shop. I'll try and drag it out this week and get some pictures. That might give you a few ideas.

Nice!

as you probably only in certains states here in the US can we have suppressors and it requires a $200 tax stamp from the Federal government for each one.

I am in Illinois so suppressors are forbidden for me. I would like to move to Missouri one of these days. one of the benefits to that would be to own suppressors.

I am getting pretty good at welding, so in the back of my mind is legally manufacturing suppressors, most likely out of stainless steel. I hear the stainless steel ones clean up nicely by dunking them in a 50/50 mix of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.

sorry for the thread drift.

Here are a few links from the SASS web site. There were a few more listed, but they were not functional links. Mine looks something like the back pocket gun cart and the mustang crossed.

The difference between mine and the various CAS or SASS designs is that I have the wheels on the opposite side and 'feet'under mine so that the wheels are just off the ground when it is sitting. This gives a stable platform to shoot from if need be. The wheels also extend out from the body to give a wider more stable footprint when pulling it over un-even ground. In the pic there is only the one on the gun side that is extended.

I have a "first strike" cart and like it a lot for highpower use . I like Von Gruffs designs too , It would be great for pulling out the back door when I don't need a scope and stand , cooler , etc..........

I believe we are currently at 35 or 36 states allowing civilian suppressor ownership. And on steel (no aluminium components) suppressors you can use the DIP but remember to lead acetate solution is very toxic so must be disposed of safely. You may want to look into monocore construction technique as it makes taking it down to really clean it much easier. :hijack:

Depending upon the range you have to measure any gates or other obsticales you have to navigate. I bought a used golf hard carry case and collapsable wheel and just custom fit wood brackets inside of it. you can also just put your guns in soft cases an just stack more into the golf case.

One of my buddies uses the Stanley rolling tool chest for all his incendentals - I have all my tools in a fishing tackle box.

My hunting buddy and myself were trying to think up something we could pull behind a mountain bike.

I really like a mountain bike for hunting. You can be very stealthy on the game trails.

Perhaps a rack built onto the bike......

Nanuk, go check out the motorcycle/ATV gun rack's - several styles on is the plastic boot that goes down the front fork with the buttstock sticking up vertically and the second is the rack that mounts to your handle bars horizontally.

Funny you mention that. I just built a mountain bike trailer. Then I went to Harbor Freight to look at their welding cart. With very little modification, it would make a half way (though heavy) decent mountain bike trailer.
