I'm new to the forum so I am probably asking a silly question. I am thinking of getting a Magma/Star tool. It seems to be one of the best and owners like them a lot. Since you size nose first and the boolit is pushed one way through the die, How do you add gas checks to your boolits?

Waldog,

You use a flat punch that is near the boolit diameter and then just push the boolit with a gas check through the die nose first. The check is seated nicely on the boolit since the pressure to push the boolit through the die is applied to the boolit through the gas check and is then crimped in place.

I have had little luck with nose first gas checking. I ended up doing 223s bottom first doing the lube at the same time. 45s need two steps, lube then checks.

I have had no problems seating 30 cal gc with my star. Never tried 223.
