Got my #6 adapter die in today, went to screw it in. Went so far, then stopped about .100" high above the handle.
Note to self: do not close 310 tool with extractor hook under pressure without adapter die in place! Otherwise, the hook mashes the threads down like this:

If you look at an installed adapter die, the cutout for the extractor hook has a section that protects the threads in the 310 tool.

Moral of the story- only time to close the 310 tool with the adjustment screw providing pressure on the extractor hook is when there is an adapter die installed.
