Today being the milestone date I saw a M95 sitting in the rack of the local enablers shop. I looked it over, what a neat action. Weird looking round though, just almost tapers to the projectile. Anway, The barrel sluged .319-.330 just ahead of the throat. I have not tried for the rest of the mesurements nor tried scraping the fouling I know I will find in the barrel. 20 rounds of 1939 issue ammo and 4 stripper clips in the deal.
This is definately a tweener for the moulds I have but do have a Lee 8MM C324-175-1R and a selection of paper.
From what I have read in a few past posts the lee C329-205-1R I most likely to small. Well I have started there before.

I have the M95 Carbine and found the LEE 338 220 GC was best for mine. The throat on mine slugs at 332/319. I size them to 334. Powder is ADI 2206H, 32gns. Shoots acceptably at 50m, just needs some tweeking.

BRP produces the "Oldfeller's Frankenstien" which was designed especially for the Steyr M95.

The Lee Karabiner from Midsouth should work.

Get Oldfeller's Frankenstein from BruceB. It, and all of the useful molds, use .338 gas checks, for your planning. I haven't checked lately, but Blammer has carried them.

After doing a rough check of the barrel, I still need to measure the throat leede area. On a lark an as I have read poast on the joys of shooting ball ammo I pulled one down and placed a Lyman 314-299 (as cast) in two wraps of note pad paper to check the fit. It came out 0.002 over at .332 amd had light rifling marks on the nose. It should work.
Also checked, Grafs is out of stock on brass.

I bet if you made a dummy round up with a unaltered .338" jacketed bullet loaded, it would drop into the chamber easy as a .329" bullet. That has happened to me on several M95s in 8x56r.

One computer crash later, finaly back with the lap top I have not realy figured out how to use.

I tore the little rifle down to the little bity parts and found out why it was cheap, the firing pin was broken off. No parts were to be found easiely, so I drilled the end of the broken pin out, put a decaping pin in with a press fit and cut to length. The issue ammo does kick in the rifle. I converted the five rounds to boxer, and wraped five rounds of the Lee 8mm in copier paper, they were a snug fit in the as fired case, 16 grains of IMR 4227 and wheat bran to the base of the casting, all fired with less than stelliear results but no leading. The grooves are rough, and will require polishing to get the package to servive the trip.
Good news it shoots and I have time to tinker with it

Mine didn't like the as cast Lee329s, as cast they were .3305 and my bbl slugged at 3315, finally got some 32 cal gaschecks and at 50yrds she went from minute of barn to same hole with 16grs of 2400.And get this, POA! with the battle sight. Haven't messed with it since.
