Team.

I local online auction site has a listing for 3kg bars of No.2 alloy (90/5/5). The big is presently equivalent to USD4.13lb!!!!!

Crazy.

I wonder what makes them think any lead alloy is worth over 4 bucks a pound. Crazy indeed.

So, how much did you buy?

A local area salvage dealer is paying $300 a ton for scrap steel, almost $4 a pound for clean aluminum and copper. Gold is over $1500 an ounce and the US dollar is continuing to weaken. Why wouldn't scrap lead be increasing in price? We are competing with China and other countries for scrap lead. Of course we are told that all is well by our government.

And there is yet another reason my stash continues to grow well beyond what I will likely shoot. It's gonna be an interesting day when a $100-bill in my wallet won't mean squat but a couple WW's in my pocket will buy a carton of eggs and a gallon of milk. :D

"Tertle" and I did a road trip at the weekend just gone and picked up 660lb of sorted lead, WW, Lino and 50/50 bar solder. Sale price: USD0.35lb. Oddly enough my SUV rides a lot better with 660lb of lead on board.

I'm with Rangefinder. My stash is continuing to grow.
