I was going to post about melting down 6 gal. of WWS today , I used my turkey fryer burner and 1st. time run it wide open. Sounds like a big doubler burn up in the hills . It would melt down a full dutch oven of wts. in no time, I put a large piece of beeswax in before the fire was turned up, then more in while melting and more and then to flux,
The lead after poured was gold, purple and red, I just see on here about colored lead and sure glad to see my answer. After 50 years of melting I never had this happen until the heat was turned up. Did I loose any good alloys. Thanks- Joe

You definately had enough heat. There was probably some loss of tin. How much is dependent on how long, and how hot it really was.
Keep your melt temp as low, as will do the job. Excess heat is both a waste of gas, and detriment to the alloy.

With that much flux, probably only a little. Remember it is the oxidation that causes the separation, and as long as those oxides are returned you have lost nothing.
