Melting magnum shot this week, advice?

My pot is coming and some magnum Lawerence shot is waiting for melting with some roof lead. Initial alloy will be 50/50 #9 shot/roofing lead with about 1% tin.

Is melting shot straight forward? It is packaged and clean.

much shot is coated with graphite.

i melted down around 80lbs of mixed shot.

lots of black powder/foam and it was separating the shot pellets from the melt. use no oil or lard for flux, itll just make a mess.

flux with saw dust or a wood stick/stirrer, and dont add your other alloys till you get all the black **** out of the melt.
