Does anyone have a load for a Hornady 270 gr for 38/55? This bullet is designed for the 375 H&H but I want to try it single loading in a Win 94, modern of course.

Thanks,
Rich

Bit hard, but probably no harder than a linotype boolit. I wouldn't be bothering unless I had the bullets sitting about and no 375H&H.

Don't Hornady have a hotline you can ring?

Typically bullets of that type will not open up well in a lower speed cartridge like a 38-55. Also I would bet a 375 H&H bullet is designed pretty tough anyway. My 38-55 is better used with bullets in the 377 and up range anyway. I agree with the previous post.

Good morning
Why not just selll them... If you have a box full or nearso there are lots of 375 reloaders out there.
But it would probably be a great penetrator as it probably is not going to expand...

I finally found the Speer manual, I thought that they made a 270Gn, but they don't (or didn't when my manual was printed).

They suggested the 235Gn for single shot 38/55s and went on to say that the bullet was too long for lever actions. The 270 would have to be every bit as long or longer I'm thinking.

Bit of a waste of a premium (read expensive) bullet.
