I have a Ruger LCP in 380 ACP. I need a 0.356" boolit to avoid leading ( based on slugging and my 102 & 105 grain loads). I have about 2,000 boolits of 0.356" at 122 grains that will not work in my 9MMs. Has anyone had any experience with the heavier boolits (122 grains) in the LCP 380? I know some owners are playing with the recoil springs to eliminate perceived recoil and that may help top avoid excessive abuse to the slide; but I don't want to destroy the gun. Any comments/suggestions?

If it's load data you need, the 3d edition of the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook has loads listed for the 121 gr. #358242 bullet using several powders that were in use when the 3d edition was published in 1980. I have no personal experience using cast in a .380.

Why won't the 122 grain bullets work in your 9mm's?

Guess I was not clear in my statement. Actually, they will work but they are undersized (0.356") for my bores. A boolit of 0.358" works best and gives minimal leading. As a last option is could load and shot them but I prefer a better boolit fit.

If I was loading for a LCP, I would get a Lee 102-gr RN mold. I might be tempted to try the 105-gr SWC, but that would be as far as I would push it.

Pirate...
years ago I shot 125 gr cast in my .380 LLama.....I cant remember what that powder charge was, but I do remember that it really snapped that slide back !

That is exactly my concern. If I understand correctly, the Ruger LCP was originally equipped with a 9# spring and they changed the design to 11#; and that is what I should have in my gun currently. Wolf Springs sell them in greater poundage of 13#, 15# and 18#, I believe. Since this should dampen the blow-back, it will increase the force slamming the slide home. I guess there is no free lunch here. Just don't know if the gun was designed for this heavy a bullet, even with a reduced load.
