Hybrid: 7.62X39 to .44 Mag.
These are two .44 Mag bullets (260gr and 202gr) made with my hybrid method out of 7.62X39 brass cases. They have pure lead cores.
The expanded bullets were fired into water saturated fine sand. The velocities were 1300fps and 1540fps. Distance 8 yards.
Retained weights are 225 and 145gr. Expanded diameters average .700" on both weights.

They can be seen on the album page.

That hurts to see that brass made into bullets. It's hard enough to find....but I applaud the results.

If it makes you feel better, the Lapua brass was only used for the initial group of bullets; about 40. The rest I have made in the last two weeks, about 500, are all Berdan primed brass. And I have about 1000 pieces of boxer primed brass for when my eldest decides he want to load for his 47. At least now I have a reason to pick up the berdan primed 47 brass.

Went to the range today and gathered up another 450 pieces or so. I'll be doing that for two weeks so I'll have something to do on my week off after a minor knee surgery next month.

I had to look myself. You can find it if you look at a person's profile by clicking their username. Here's a link that may work, and a couple of his pics.

Wouldn't it be easier to use 40 S&W brass?

I'm sure that 40 S&W would work just as well. It all depends what kind of brass you have a lot of and having a creative mind.

You aren't familiar with my Hybrid method of making jacketed bullets from cases. You can do a search on this site and find out about it.
