Then how much is it going to change in a couple of days? weeks?
I'm working with pure lead and 40-60 solder.
I'm hoping to have 25-1 when I'm ready to cast some boolits.
I have a RCBS 20 pound melter so if i have say 18#s of pure lead then how much 40-60 should I put in?
Help please catmasher
There are several alloy calculators here. Give one of them a try. I should answer your question.

25:1 is 4% Tin.
If we're talking about 60/40 (60 being the Tin):
1 lb of 60/40 solder
14 lbs of pure lead
= 15 lbs of alloy with 4% Tin
To do the whole 18 lbs:
1.25 lbs of 60/40 solder
18 lbs of pure lead
= 19.25 lbs of alloy with 3.90% Tin
If we're talking about 40/60 (40 being the Tin):
1 lb of 40/60 solder
9 lbs of pure lead
= 10 lbs of alloy with 4% Tin
To do the whole 18 lbs, you can see that you just need to double the mix above.

I made a lead tester with a 200 lb. die spring with a led light. I tested lead and in 30 days it would be as hard as it would ever get. I tested it ever week.
