50 RazorBack done

well some of you might know that I was working on building a 50 RazorBack. The 50 RazorBack is a round designed by Delta companey arms and to my understanding I am the first besides them to make one. the round is made by trimming REM ultra mag brass (not 338) to 2.375" long and loading with a true 50 cal bullet aka .510 bullet. it can be loaded with 50bmg bullets as well as cast and paper patched loads. my gun is built using a savage 110 action and a modafied box mag. this is put on a mcmillan stock and a 50 Bmg barrel. the optic is an aimpoint comp m4 and the barrel is fitted with a large break. so far my loads have been 450gr pp boolits clocked at 2300 fps. there was some concern on my part about loading dies as custom dies are hella expensive but after looking and many case drawings I settled on and bought a set of hornady 50 Alaskan dies and could not be more happy. next post will have pictures and videos.

what kind of scope is that?

and I take it that that is a CNC milling machine/booth/lathe in the background?

the mahogany stained wooden box is a set of micrometers?

the scope is a Aimpoint comp M4, it is a red dot that is the best made. the dot is 2 moa size and can take a pounding. the mil mount these on 20mm cannons, so it can handle the recoil.

Looks like a very fine job.

I've always heard you would damage the brake.

I will be curious to see how well a case that long holds headspace on the mouth, and extracts. Loads are going to have to be stout enough to make sure the case seals the chamber or it will get scuffed up. Keep us posted, interested minds want to know!

Friend of mine has a 50 Whisper in a Ruger #1. Anyone know how the two cartridges compare?

Headspacing on the case mouth is not that big of a deal if you have a control round feed rifle like a Mauser or a Winchester.
If its a push round feed, then you have to watch you case length more closely.

I wish he would load up some of those monster Ranger Rick bullets. I think they are 900 grain or something like that. Definetly put the wupass on something.

The .50 Razorback is a rifle cartridge based on the Remington Ultra Magnum family of cases, except the lower shouldered .338 RUM case. The result is cartridge capable of shooting .50 BMG projectiles in a long action rifle and at a fraction of the costs the .50 BMG cartridge entails. This wildcat is still in development.
