Was worried about taming the recoil to much on big boomers. That all that shock with no where to go might work the metal to would fit. So built this with a total weight of 50 lbs. Cause I was dieing to know what those 2500+ fps 480 gr LBT loads could really do. My biggest reason was not for recoil tamming so much as get it up cause our range benches were built by people 2 feet tall. I used to shoot better groups off buff sticks than bench. Now thats tragic..So now its got the shove of a really poorly built 06, so I know some recoil is getting away, yet I still get a proper bench group...:-D :-D

Am I looking at a 458 win Mag?

I may need to build a bench like that some day, I have often thought of how much I dont like shooting my 45-70 of the bench.

That's pretty dang slick. I recognize the car jack, but what's the square tubing off? Nice job, I like this kind of thing..

Square tubing's off a bench press part of a weight machine somebody through in the dump. I'd watch the weight you add. A fella on one of our forums in canada bought one, put the full 100lbs in a cablooy ,cracked stock....I think you gotta let a little recoil get away
