I'm researching 32-20 rifle moulds. I just realized I've never asked about the RCBS designs.

They have a pricey 32-115-RF GC design, similar to the 311316 I think. Anyone use it and measured the drop sizes?

Also a traditional 32-90 PB Cowboy Action bullet. Wondering what the area in front of the top groove measures?

There is also a SWC but the nose looks long. Any opinions?

I think I saw a few posts here recently that said they tended to drop at .312 or so. Smaller than I want for sure.
Best 32-20 bullet I have found is a group buy that I think Willbird ran years ago. At little 120 rnfp shoots like nothing else over 5 gr of Unique in my Marlin.

My 32-115 drops a pretty boolit, about 120 gr. But it only measures .310. The new ones are spec'd small, so unless you can find an older one, it might be a waste of time. Although Buffalo Arms has the mold listed at .313, so maybe they have some fatter ones.

The 32-98-SWC is a different story. Drops at .314 and shoots very well. There are a number of members here who shoot it alot.

I do not have any experience with the Cowboy mold yet. Just bought one. RCBS lists it at .314, so I think it would probably be a good boolit for light loads.

I have one of the 32-98-SWC molds and while it does shoot pretty well with five point two of Unique , I can't seen to find joy with slower powders . The nose seems a little long for my liking and I would rather have a bit more bearing surface but hey , I think it was made for thirty-two pistols not my .314" Browning barrel .

I found something that will work so I think I'll move on for now .

Don't remember the number but had a Lyman GC SWC of about 115grs I used to shoot out of a 32 H&R magnum in a Ruger SS. Dropped about .313" IIRC. Not listed anymore but might be able to find a used one. Bought mine new about 10 years aago.

Buffalo's ad was what caught my interest on the 32-115. I've been searching and this 115 gr bullet is reported to drop small on other threads as well. Seems geared at the 30 cal. crowd. One thing about learning here, fit is everything to start, no sense trying undersized bullets for my Winoku 92.

Any feed problems in a lever with the SWC?

I have the RCBS 32-90-CM, it is running 0.3155 with a 2/3 clip on - 1/3 Stick on + 1% tin, air cooled.

I shoot the RCBS 32-115 and 32-98 from my Marlin cl with no feeding problems at all. For the 32-98 I just crimp into the scraper band and keep OAL to 1.593. I really like the bullet. I put a gas check on the back of the 32-115 and run it through a .314 sizing die. The die never touches the bullet because it drops from the mold at .3105". However, the lube groove does get filled, I load it over 10 grs of 2400 and the pressure of the load compresses the bullet enough to make it shoot well. Best group to date is 1.75" @ 150 yards.

The only one I've tried it in is the model fifty-three and it hasn't even stuttered . It works very well .

Canuck Bob,
Here is a 32-20 gc bullet offered by Accurate Molds. It is very similar to the old 32-20 IDEAL 311316 which has been obsolete for awhile.

The diameter is specified by the customer at the time an order is placed.

I use the RCBS 32-98 SWC in a Browning M-53 with excellent results. I have also had good luck with an older Lyman 311-316. sized 313, either boolit shoots better than these eyes can with Iron sights. If I could only have one, I'd go with the RCBS. It really casts well, and feeds without hesitation. One Caveat, ignore the crimp groove and crimp over the front band, otherwise your loaded round will be too long.

It's a good bullet, although I shoot it in a contender, like the avatar. I like it, the gun likes it and it will shoot good out to 100 meters (short barrel doesn't let you go too far).

BOb, I would suggest you look at the group buy for the NOE 311008/314008/316008. Sure as hens lay eggs the .314 will do better than a commercial mould.

I have the RCBS 32-115-RF GC that I use in my Marlin 1984Cl 32-20. I got it from Buffalo Arms, and it casts to a diameter of .313; bullets from air cooled wheel weights weigh about 118 grains.

I was sizing them to .312 at first, and accuracy was erratic. Things improved when I just tumble lubed them without sizing.
