Been awhile since I looked at one, but I do think it went out to three hundred.

They are a single bladed sight on an original 1863 two leaf base that is installed backwards on the Allin conversion when laying flat they are set for 100 yards when up there is two sighting notches. The one in the hole in the middle of the blade is for 300 yards and the one at the top of the blade is for 500 yards. To hit at 200 yards you use the 300 yard sight notch and aim low like about two feet. The idea was to shoot at a standing man you aim at his belt buckle at 100 yards. At 200 yards you aim at his knees with the 300 yard sight. At 300 yards aim at his belt buckle, at 400 yards use the 500 yard sight at aim at his knees and at 500 yards aim at his belt buckle. Simple GI rules of thum during the CW and after until they really taught GIs how to shoot.
