Hey Guys,
I know aabout the gloves, long sleeves, face sheild, respirator as needed.
I did have a few quick questions

How many of you keep a fire extinguisher handy when melting for ingots?
Just in case of an accident (rare but they can happen)
What type? ABC ok?
Obvuoisly not a water one.

I cast on one side of the garage and reload on the other. I keep a dry chemical fire extinguisher on each side.
That way I could easily get to at least one of them.

I smelt outdoors, but I haven't bothered to bring one with me yet. It would probably be a good idea though, just in case.

Diddo Bumpo, I keep a rather large dry chemical fire extinguisher mounted on the wall right next to the loading bench and not far from the powder locker.

Smelting is done outside, never took it out there with me. The only thing to catch fire out there would be gravel or the sheet of plywood I set everything up on.

I do all my casting in the barn.I have a Halon fire extinguisher there for those days when nothing goes right.
In 30 years so far nothing has gone wrong in the barn, when working on cars of other stuff.
It is good to have one around though.
