Has anyone tried IMR 7383 in 223 Rem with 55 gr J******* bullets? The case volume to bore diameter ratio is about the same as 30-06.

Yes, it is, but the sectional density of the bullet is somewhat less, so the powder is relatively slower burning in the .223.

The .22-250 works well with powders of the same burning rates as the .30-06, and is a considerably bigger case for the bore than a .223. I've used lots of 7383 in the .22/250 with 55 and 60 grain bullets. Can't get enough in to get over about 3400 FPS with 55 grain, 3300 FPS with 60 grain, no pressure signs. I doubt the powder will burn completely in a .223.

Yes, I tried the powder in my AR 15. Alot of unburned powder.

Nope, but I tried it with cast. Won't say I got any accuracy because I really didn't test but just for grins I tried it. I don't have my notes right here but here's appx. what I did. Started somewhere at near case full with regular WSR primers. Moved up to CCI 450's, Mag primers. Then I started drilling out the flashhole. Nope, I'm not gonna get into the safety aspect of this. It works for me and that's all I'm gonna say! Try it at your own risk! Let's see, using the Bator 22 +fwfl+gc+cci450 LC brass flashholes drilled out MilSurp 7383; 24grs.; 3 shots; 2462fps; 57 es; flashholes drilled out - shots touched in backyard (25 yd). Regards, Woody
