Have only found copper sheets at a hobby store and it is soft copper.
Does not feed through Pat's die worth a damn!
This came in .005 sheets.
Makes a good check but does not go through the top punch for crud.
Where should I look?

Where should I look? Try doubling up the sheets when cutting the disc's Also places like McMaster carr carry copper/brass/ and alum. sheet and foils in various thickness, BTW Brass works very well and is usually less money ,Alum. even more so.

Already tried doubling up the sheets.
Got twice the trouble.
Also tried doubling with aluminum and copper.

Had wondered about brass.
Only had the check maker for 1 week so I experimenting.

I've been using the .014" brass shim. Works great on several moulds but some require a .016" thickness.

May want to check a roofing place, some folks are still using copper for flashing.

Sorry you're having trouble, but this cracked me up!

What I found was .024

Our copper roof flashing in NZ is .021 and is just right for my 2400fps + loads. I cut in strips, anneal, and make checks. Works well. Use 2x .012 Al for slower loads.

Yaw- .005 in soft copper would probably be like trying to feed AL foil through the die. Maybe it could be hardened? Bake it, then quench it in ice water? Someone here would certainly come up with an idea.

That's the thickness of beer cans pretty much, and beer cans work well, but it's thin stiff stuff.

Just a thought...
I live in a town that makes large radiators for the mining industry.

i bet lots of places do this, but if they do i bet they have strips of copper that they run through a machine that crimps(folds) the copper to form the fins.

i would bet they have a bucket for the mistakes also.

its fairly thin copper and might just work great,i have not put a mike on it though.
