I know Brass and Copper and Lead have gone up in price but never gave it a thought to gas checks. The local shop was out of 30 cal gas checks so I told him to order me some. His old stock of other calibers were marked around 17 bucks the price of the new checks were marked up 27 bucks! Boy does that suck! :(

Sorry you were not on the board sooner you would have been directed to Group buy of Gator Gas Checks. You have to go to "Group Buy Cast Boolits"

Cast Boolits has a Great Buch of Guy's with more then information.

44s will be next for sure, so don't stock up. 45's might run at same time. It's all up to Robert though. Larry has the metal in stock now to do them. ... felix

I used to look at gas checks the same manner I looked at bullet lube.
You suppose that I could declare my supply as part of my IRA?

Well since I told him to order me some I feel obligated to buy them from him. Wish I would have bought some last year. :(

I'm real glad I got in on the old GatorCheck buys at $12 and less per K.

Unfortunately, only three folks took heed of the futures' market as foretold at that time, and did buy a truck load. And, one person chickened out because he thought it was too much to pay then, but at the very last minute got back into the swim to complete his order once he found out how much a commercial establishment was getting for his same order. ... felix

I assume you are in Australia Pat. I checked out the price of gas checks recently and they have hit $50 if its new stock, but the kicker is, I couldn't get any other than some old 338 checks.

Makes the gator checks a good proposition. I will be ordering in most cals in future, let me know if you want to piggy back on my order/s.

I have 30s and 35s arrivin soon, I could probably spare some of each.

Sounds good, I was working in the Hunter Valley until the wheels fell off recently and I retired. I have moved back to Bathurst. I'll keep in touch, I'd be interested in this as well. Are you experimenting with a free check style tool of make checks or getting someone to produce them?

I'll be getting back up that way in the new year (picking up an old Savage 99 in 30-30 :-D ), we should get together for a shoot.

Veral Smith is considering making press mounted tools that can use aluminum sheeting (cheaper than copper) for more info http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/smf/index.php/topic,101350.0.html

Yeh mick we were trying the free check type but might try to use two layers off drink can to get the right thickness. It's not as straight forward as you would think but hopefully we will have a good one happening in the new year.A shoot sounds good,100 and 200 cast for groups loser buy's Pat
