I've always worn out the punch when ironing out the rim of 22 cases rather quickly with the primer residue. I see the ultrasonic cleaners are plentiful on the market, Hornady, Lyman, Harbour Frieght etc.

How do the ultrasonic cleaners fare with cleaning the shells? Does it get all of the abrasive residue out? Do punches last longer?

Thanks!!

I use citric acid in my ultrasonic, it gets most of the residue out. Yes the punch will last longer. If you lube the punch ( a little ) that also helps.

I started using an ultrasonic cleaner (citranox &/or lemishine) for some of my cartridge cleaning. Then I tried it on some rimfire jackets after annealing. It really cleans them nice. You have to run them through several cycles and stir them periodicaly. Also you need to make sure that you get them completly wetted inside with no trapped air bubbles or they dont clean well inside. I haven't tried cleaning any before derimming as I already had several thousand derimmed before I got the ultrasonic cleaner but it completely removed all traces of any residue, powder etc from the inside of the already derimmed cases and are now bright and shinny inside and out.

I'm curious to try the stainless media and rotary tumbler. Seems like the case being totally clean should result in a pretty accurate little jacket.

No need to use citrishine, etc .... shoot just use citric acid mono hydrate USP, just like THEY use to make their products

food grade, so 10 lbs bulk is $30.50, use 1 oz per gallon, and give it 5 to 10 minutes.

oh and I completely agree, the stainless tumbler and media is the ultimate bees knees
