Anybody used this combination? I've found one old post mentioning the Lyman 311314 in a Garand and it sounded ok, but no real details. Or maybe 308334? I like the way those pointy ones look in a loaded round, what can I say?

I use the 312 155 Lee pointy boolit and am pleased with how it shoots and doesn't lead the bore. I also have the 312-160 which is the tumble lube version. Both are and will be sized 311 and tumble lubed twice in LLA. Wheel weight metal water dropped with gas check and batt wad. I hope the 160 does as well as the 155. It is a 2 cavity and the 155 was a single. Very slow.

sell your single on e b*y and buy a double here, or on one of the vendors sights ... it may pay for itself ... i see 60. 00 molds go for 80.00 there gotta love it ..

Did you meant 311334? If so, there's some Garand info with the slightly heavier 311365 in the group buy results page.

Mine's an oldie, Lyman/Ideal 308334. Same mold as far as I know. They just changed the number. It seems like it would be a perfect boolit but it has a .298 nose. Kinda sloppy for such a long bore ride section. I'll take a look at the 311365, I'm guessing they've fixed the undersize nose issue.

Yes they did, the 311 version has a .306 nose, the 316 version has a whopping .310 nose. Should be great in my Mosin, and maybe even one of my oversized Krag barrels.

Any of the pointed nose designs, especially the ones with shorter bearing surfaces, need attention to alignment. The bore ride idea works good with proper sizes in play, but if the nose is undersized alignment is critical.

Did you mean the 311413?

Oops. Yep, 311413. I must be getting dyslexic. It's the one known as the Squib boolit. Either one, the 308334 or 311413 from my molds will just drop into the muzzle of any American .30 cal. I have, up to the driving bands. Probably not a good sign. I used to buy any old Lyman/Ideal mold I saw, thinking I really had something. EDIT: Maybe a moderator could fix the incorrect title, I can't seem to do that with the edit feature.

seat to show the 1st drive band, light crimp it works good. check with a M2 ball to see same over all length

311413, I have Belding and Mull's version their 311169. It works good in my Krags, but only up to a max of around 1600. It has to be seated out, like the guys above said, so that the front band is in the .310 unrifled portion of the throat that the Krags have.
