GP100 owners

Can someone give me the overall cylinder length?
Looking for that along with what you guys use as Max. COL.Looking to order a mold for a future purchase of a GP 100.

Is there a diffrence in cylinder length between the 100 and a Redhawk?

My GP-100 cylinder measures 1.608". I don't have a Redhawk.

Looks like .35 nose will have to do to work in everything from BH to RH.

Don't forget that you have to add cartridge rim thickness on cylinders that the case heads are not countersunk in.....

Dwight, I wish I can help you about it, but I'm too lazy to get out of the house and go to my reloading room at the back, it's 10:00 PM here now!

Rest assured if you use 358429 either on 38 or 357 brass, it will fit. I've been using this boolit on 38spl brass when I join some local competition on my gunclub and it works nice on speedloaders.

If you water quench it, you can load it hot for 357mag, but I prefer to use a gascheck on it. Check Pat Marlin's 35PB gascheck. It helps a lot in getting those nice groups on paper. While you're checking some molds, try to search for Mihec's 359640HP mold, it's a nice one.

Lastly, do some experiments on boolits size, from .357 to .358 or .359. Mine likes .357 with gaschecks.

From the top of the crimp groove to the nose is .375".
The Ranch dog 190 grain boolit has a .390" nose and just fits in the chambers of my GP 100. Measuring from the front of the rim they are i.6" [The cylinder measures just a taste over 1.6"]. About .005 less than flush with the front of the cylinder. Will not work in the Rossi 92, too long.
I have a lot of case tension and a good crimp and I will shoot some and see.
If the boolits pull just a little from recoil it wouldn't be nice.
You should be good to go with the long nose semi wad cutter.

My gp100 cyl length is 1.610. The Lyman 358429 if VERY heavily crimped in the crimp groove will just barely fit in the cylinder. I lightly taper crimp it on the front drive band at an OAL of 1.638. I have had no problems with bullet movement with the taper crimp and 15 grs of 296 or 820 and roughly 1250+ FPS.
