View Full Version : Extended Life for Lee Primer Tool

My 20 + year old Lee Primer Tool was not seating the primers as deep as it should.
And will need to be replaced.
But I will doctor it up a bit until a new arrival shows up.

As you can see there is wear and with a little help I can get some more life out of it.

I measured the length of the piece that was worn to get an idea of how much will be needed bring it back into service.

I peened the area where the wear was to give it more length.

I remeasured it and got about 0.015 more in length.

Added a little grease and put it back together and checked it out and primers were seated below flush.

Nice fix.
I would have thought the casting would be too brittle to withstand peening like that.

You might want to look for a used replacement since the new XR version is not as easy to use as the old one. They don't sell parts for the old one anymore either. The main problem is that they gave the XR a little less leverage than the old one.

That was 20 year's agp.
