View Full Version : How hard are zinc wheel weights?

I'm sorting through a few pails of w/w and I've noticed some of them are harder than others (more like lino). I assume that they are lead, because I can easily cut them in two using a pair of sidecutters, but it takes more pressure than the softer weights (these are all clip-on weights, not stick-ons). My question is . . . how much harder is zinc? Would it be possible to cut a zinc weight in two with regular sidecutters??

No, I don't think so. With a firm attempt, you should even dent a zinc weight.
Clip on lead weights are harder than stick ons. However, you can easily dent either one with a pair of wire cutters.

zinc will not budge with a set of wire cutters. They are REAL hard.
