I need help pricing a 94S Marlin in 44/40. A friend wants to sell it to me and I want to be fair on the price. The rifle is about 98%, no box or papers. I see on Gunbroker thy are about $750 to 800. That seems a bit high. I would appreciate your help.

Remember, that is what the sellers want, not what they actually get. However, that is the price that is being asked on the gunshow tables around here. I bought mine for quite a bit less, but that was 5 or 6 years ago. Prices of guns and anything related to them have gone crazy lately.

The value of the old marlins is just sky rocketing due to the absolute garbage coming out of Illion NY these days. The older one were made by people that loved what they were producing and took great pride in their work. Every gun I have handled that came out of Remington with a Marlin name has had a problem. Some are not big but all have had issues.

There's one in a local shop in excellent condition for 495.
